Element Bars: Built-To-Order Nutrition Bars That Don't Taste Like Chalk |
Health food stores are filled with a myriad of apparently magical supplement bars, guaranteeing everything from a stronger immune system to enhanced eyesight. But for all their variety, most of them taste horrible. Element Bars, an Illinois-based startup launching today, is handing the reins over to the public, giving users the chance to build their own (hopefully better tasting) supplement bars.
If Element Bars can prove that its bars are either better tasting or healthier than the competition, it could find itself in a very profitable niche. Health fanatics are notoriously picky when it comes to the food they eat, and will probably flock to the service. »http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/09/17/element-bars-built-to-order-nutrition-bars-that-dont-taste-like-chalk/ |

Like energy bars? Element Bars lets you design your own. |
When I travel, I'll usually have a couple of energy bars in my bag. They are the kind of thing that can be really handy after you have been stuck on the tarmac for 5 hours with nothing but a bag of nuts. Your average wellness store will have 100's of different bars on their shelves, and it can be really hit or miss when it comes to finding the right bar.
Element Bars is taking a different approach to energy bars, by letting you design your own custom bar. The bars are all made from natural ingredients, with no artificial sweeteners. As you build your bar, the nutritional information panel is constantly updated helping you tweak your selections for the exact values you want. Price aside; being able to design and tweak products like this seems like a great idea, and I'm sure we'll see other companies put the Internet to good use with more custom food in the future. »http://www.gadling.com/2008/09/18/like-energy-bars-element-bars-lets-you-design-your-own/ |

Element Bars -- Design your own! |
If you're a person who likes to have a protein/energy bar on occasion when you can't grab a meal, or uses them as a healthier version of snacks or desserts ... Element Bars are a fantastic choice. Why? You can design them yourself!
The process is really quite fun, and you'd be surprised how personalized these bars can be. My favorite was "Chocolate Nut Pie". I couldn't decide whether this bar tasted more like chocolate chip cookie dough or brownies, but either way ... it was delicious. »http://www.thatsfit.com/2008/09/30/fitzs-cool-tools-element-bars-design-your-own/ |

Create Your Own Supplement Bar |

You walk down any nutrition supplement aisle in any grocery or super-store and you will see how many products flood the shelves.
However, if you have the extra money to spend and occasionally purchase some of these products there are some that are better then others. An interesting article I found was one discussing a company producing supplement bars, called Element Bars, and allowing people to personalize a bar according to their taste likes and dislikes. »http://www.dietsinreview.com/diet_column/10/create-your-own-supplement-bar/ |

A healthy idea, bar none |
Jonathan Miller's wife, Jennifer, really hates raisins in her protein bars. They're not really Jonathan's thing, either. He prefers dried cherries.
But he couldn't find anything like that in stores, so he started making his own. He can have some made for you, too, via Element Bars - custom protein bars. Thanks to a nifty online interface, users can drag and drop their favorite ingredients into a little bundle of personalized goodness and have it shipped to their homes. Before September 13, the night Jonathan Miller appeared on the reality show Shark Tank to pitch his year-old custom energy bar business, Element Bars, Inc., his Web site got about 200 unique visits a day. That night it racked up 25,000.
Miller's interest in energy bars dates back to a 2002..."I'd eat an energy bar off the shelf every day for breakfast, then crash from a sugar high by midmorning," he says. "I'd look at the lists of ingredients, and they were completely unpronounceable.
